Frutes, cakes, & spycery

Now this feest is done, voyde the table.

Notes on the Feast:

  • Pandemayne - white bread.
  • Buttir - butter.
  • Frumente - traditional soup of barley and almond milk.
  • Chikenes Endoryd -roast chicken glazed with egg yolks.
  • Peascoddes for a Fish day - a dish of cooked peas (adding mint & honey).
  • Salat - salad of lettuce & herbs, dressed with vinegar & oil.
  • Leche frys in lentoun - an almond milk fruit pie.
  • Flampoyntes - a beef & cheese pie, decorated with pastry triangles (substituting beef for pork).
  • Chyches - roasted chickpeas, boiled with garlic and olive oil.
  • Payne Foundow - a bread pudding made with wine.
  • Frutes, cakes, & spycery - fresh apples & oranges, spice cake, & mulled cider.
The names of the courses are taken from John Russell's Boke of Nurture.

Master Huen Damebrigge of Wychwood has been cooking feasts for the SCA since 1980; he still cooks for approximately 2-3 official events a year. Master Huen currently resides in the Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands in AEthelmearc. Lord Cydifor ap Manogan has been Master Huen's primary feast assistant since 1990.
